Welcome to Part 2 of our 4 Part Series on building momentum for your book. Way to go! You picked a great time to start learning and implementing some of the most pivotal steps for success into your regular writing routine. As you start out on the publishing process (or even during the writing phase if you’re lucky enough to start that early), you can build relationships and generate excitement for your new book. The sooner in the process you start promoting yourself and your book publication process the better. By including people throughout your process and sharing your experiences with them, you will already have the momentum you need to promote your finished product while it’s still hot from the press. By following these guides, you will build excitement for your book’s release and reach a larger audience of people who are invested in seeing your final product, making your marketing work that much easier.

In this blog, we are focusing on brainstorming topics about you and your writing to keep your social media posts varied and interesting. Only you can add the personal touch that makes you and your writing style and story yours. But here are some great starter ideas with tips to help get your creative juices flowing for creative and unique posts to share with your readers.

Content Ideas for Social Media Posts

1. Behind-the-Scenes Looks:

  • Share photos or videos of your writing space. Is it a cozy nook in your home, a bustling café, or a serene outdoor spot?
  • Show snippets of your notes, sketches, or storyboards. This gives your audience a peek into your creative process.
  • Talk about your writing routine. Do you write at dawn, burn the midnight oil, or squeeze in time between other commitments?

2. Character Spotlights:

  • Introduce your characters one by one. Share their backstories, quirks, and roles in your story.
  • Post character quotes or dialogues. This not only teases your story but also gives life to your characters.
  • Create polls asking your audience to choose between different character traits or fates.

3. Writing Challenges and Triumphs:

  • Discuss any challenges you face in writing your book. Whether it’s writer’s block, finding the right words, or dealing with distractions, sharing these struggles makes you relatable.
  • Celebrate milestones, such as completing a chapter, reaching a word count goal, or finishing the first draft. Let your audience join in your victories.

4. Inspirations and Influences:

  • Share what inspires your writing. This could be other authors, books, movies, music, or real-life experiences.
  • Talk about your research process. If your story involves specific historical periods, locations, or professions, share interesting facts and tidbits you’ve discovered.

5. Interactive Content:

  • Engage your audience with questions and prompts. Ask them about their favorite genres, what they look for in a good book, or their thoughts on certain themes.
  • Host Q&A sessions where you answer questions from your readers. This can be done through live videos, stories, or posts.

6. Teasers and Excerpts:

  • Post short excerpts from your book. This could be a compelling scene, a beautiful description, or a powerful dialogue.
  • Share teasers about plot twists or upcoming developments in your story. Keep them short and intriguing to build anticipation.

7. Personal Reflections:

  • Reflect on your journey as a writer. What have you learned along the way? What advice would you give to aspiring writers?
  • Share your dreams and goals for your book. Why did you write it? What do you hope readers will take away from it?

Tips for Creative and Unique Posts

  • Consistency is Key: Regular posting helps keep your audience engaged. Create a content calendar to plan and schedule your posts.
  • Visual Appeal: Use images, videos, and graphics to make your posts visually appealing. Tools like Canva can help you create professional-looking visuals.
  • Authenticity: Be genuine and authentic in your posts. Let your personality shine through, and don’t be afraid to show vulnerability or humor.
  • Engage with Your Audience: Respond to comments, messages, and mentions. Building a community around your book can lead to loyal and enthusiastic readers.
  • Hashtags and Tags: Use relevant hashtags to increase the reach of your posts. Tag people, places, or products that are relevant to your content.

By varying your content and keeping it interesting, you will not only maintain your audience’s attention but also deepen their connection with you and your book.
